about

👋 My name is Stacy, and I’m a PhD candidate in the Sudmant Lab at UC Berkeley. I’m broadly curious about genomes, and I like creating new methods and tools to study biology from sequence to structure. To that end, I’ve worked on everything from the genomics of viral immunity to leveraging pangenomic graphs for discovering rare mutations. Some projects include:

  • Small molecule drug discovery for diseases of protein misfolding and dysfunction

  • Investigative sourcing and benchmarking of clandestinely imported COVID-19 rapid antigen tests

  • Sequencing the microbiome of inflammatory skin diseases

  • Studying aging and immunity in Myotis bats

  • Reverse engineering uniquely barcoded magnetic beads for linked-read DNA sequencing

Currently, I work on developing methods to study the mutation and evolution of human genomes in aging. You can read more about that here.

In my spare time, I like tinkering with small buildables, reading, taking photos of 木洩れ日 (komorebi, the sunlight filtering through trees), walking aimlessly, and charging my phone. I occasionally discuss things I like and work on @voidshapes. DMs there are the fastest way to reach me, but if you prefer email:
